XAT has several distinguishing features that set it apart from other MBA entrance exams:
XAT has a unique Decision-Making section that is not seen in any other management entrance test. It evaluates a candidate’s ability to analyze situations and make rational judgments[reference:17][reference:18].
Unlike many other exams, XAT has no upper age limit. Working professionals and candidates with professional degrees (CA/CS) can also appear[reference:19].
XAT does not specify a minimum percentage requirement to appear for the exam[reference:20]. Candidates with any graduation percentage can apply.
Unlike most exams, XAT penalizes unattempted questions beyond a certain limit (-0.1 for more than 8 unattempted questions), making time management crucial[reference:21][reference:22].
XAT does not have sectional time limits, allowing candidates to allocate time across sections based on their strengths[reference:23].
XAT scores are accepted by over 250 premier B-schools across India, including XLRI, XIMB, IMT, MICA, IRMA, GIM, TAPMI, and many more[reference:24][reference:25].
XAT has one of the most flexible eligibility criteria among MBA entrance exams:
XAT 2026 is divided into two parts. Part 1 consists of three sections with a total of 75 questions to be completed in 170 minutes, followed by a mock keyboard test. Part 2 is the General Knowledge section[reference:33]. The essay writing section has been removed from the exam pattern[reference:34].
