MHCET Law (After 12th) : Introduction

Maharashtra Common Entrance Test for Law or MH CET Law is a state-level law entrance exam in Maharashtra. State CET Cell, Maharashtra conducts MH CET law for admission to 5-year LLB and 3-year LLB programmes offered by the law colleges in the state of Maharashtra.
MH LAW-CET (5years) is a 5 years full-time degree for the aspirants who are planning to shape their career In the field of Law, where they get a 5 years integrated program as after completing their 3 years they get a degree of BLS/BBA and rest two years given them LLB.
The exam was introduced in 2016 by the Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra as a standard entrance test for students seeking admission  in 10060 seats across 153 colleges of the state universities. Nearly 15,000 students write MH-CET (5-year Law) every year.

MH-CET Law: Eligibility criteria

Educational Qualifications:10+2 passed/appearing
Minimum marks in qualifying exam
1. 45%in aggregate for Open, SEBC, and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) Category candidates and all India candidates.
2. 40% in aggregate for candidates belonging to SC and ST categories from Maharashtra state.
3. 42%in aggregate for VJNT, SBC, and OBC categories belonging to the state of Maharashtra

Age limit

There is no age limit prescribed by the authorities for the MH CET Law Exam. Candidates can attempt this exam regardless of their age, as far as they qualify the other eligibility criteria of the exam.

  1. Logical & Analytical Reasoning: Reasoning by analogy, completing arguments, drawing well-supported conclusions, puzzles, blood relations, series, etc.
  2. English: Vocabulary, synonyms &antonyms, analogies, idioms &phrases, sentence improvement, and rearrangement, fill in the blanks, etc.

MHCET Law 2023: Application Form

The candidates are required to register online on the official website of MHCET and then complete the application process.

The MH-CET law application process will consist of:

  1. Registration
  2. Filling up of application form
  3. Uploading of documents[(Photo,Signature and Education Details (SSC and HSC)]
  4. Making application fee payment-  (Debit/Debit card number and AMT PIN, UPI or Net Banking ID)
  5. Taking a printout of the form

Note: It is advisable that the candidates fill the application form correctly as no correction window will be provided later.

MH CET Law Counselling 2023


The counseling process of MH CET law is known as the Centralized Admission Process (or CAP). The counseling is conducted in online mode. The 5-year LLB program has an intake of 10, 920 seats at 132 approved colleges.

The MHCET law 2023 counselling process is explained in brief below:

  1. Registration – Eligible candidates need to register for counselling online, enter their choice of colleges and pay the counselling fee.
  2. Document verification – The admission committee will e-verify uploaded documents and the information entered by the candidate at the time of filling the application form. Only such candidates who successfully complete the verification process will be considered for the next step.
  3. Publication of Alphabetical Merit List – The merit list will include the names of candidates shortlisted for the counselling and seat allotment process.
  4. Submission of grievances – Any candidates who have any objection against the merit list are allowed to challenge it.    
  5. Publication of Final Merit List – The final list will be published after making any corrections to the provisional list after considering objections by candidates.
  6. Allotment of seats – Finally, seats will be allocated by considering 1) the MH CET law 2023 merit rank of the candidate, and 2) College options picked at the time of counselling registration.

Note that there will be two rounds of CAP. If there are any seats that lie vacant after CAP allotment rounds, then such seats will be filled at an institutional level by respective law colleges.
