CLAT is the most common law entrance exam in India that is conducted for admission to 22 NLUs. Every year more than 60,000 students appear for CLAT to secure admission in UG or PG programmes. Eligibility Criteria

The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has announced the eligibility criteria of CLAT. Candidates who want to apply for the national level law entrance exam must meet the CLAT eligibility criteria  before filling the application form. The following are the CLAT eligibility criteria for UG law programmes:

Educational Qualification

1. Candidates appearing in the qualifying exam (Class 12 exam in April/May, 2024) are also eligible to appear in CLAT. However, such candidates must produce the certificate of qualifying examination at the time of admission failing which their admission will be cancelled.
2. Candidates must have passed their qualifying examination (Class 12) with at least 45% aggregate marks  from a recognized board or institution.
3. SC and ST candidates are required to secure at least 40% or equivalent grade.

Age Limit

There is no age limit for appearing in UG CLAT for pursuing LLB courses in national law universities.

English language: This section consists of 450 words passages and questions will be derived from contemporary or historically significant fiction and non-fiction writing, the difficulty level would be according to class 12 standard

Current affairs: The section consists of passages based questions of about 400-450 words on current affairs, including national and international news, static general knowledge, and other relevant topics.

Quantitative techniques: The section consists of questions based on elementary mathematics, including graphs, numerical ability, elementary statistics, and data interpretation.

Legal reasoning: The section consists of short passages of about 450 words. The passages may relate to fact situations or scenarios involving legal matters, public policy questions or moral philosophical enquiries.

Logical reasoning: The section consists of questions and short passages of 300 words based on logical reasoning, including syllogisms, analogies, logical sequences, and other relevant topics.
